Pusha T has seemingly taken a shot at former friend and collaborator Kanye West in his new single “So Be It.” Scheduled for release on June 20, the track premiered on Funkmaster Flex’s show and contains lyrics that appear to be aimed directly at West, including lines like, “You cried in front of me / You died in front of me / Calabasas took ya bitch and ya pride in front of me.”

In a recent interview with GQ, Pusha T reflected on the deterioration of his relationship with West. He revealed that he has openly communicated his concerns to West, stating, “He knows that every issue that he’s having and crying about online right now, I’ve told him distinctly about those things.” Pusha expressed a strong sense of disconnection with West, commenting, “He knows I don’t think he’s a man. That’s why we can’t build with each other no more.”

He further described West as “sick” and emphasized his feelings towards their former partnership. This ongoing tension between the two artists has been evident, especially given Pusha’s past remarks about why many artists continue to collaborate with West despite his controversial behavior. Speaking to Complex, he noted that working with West offers a level of visibility and production quality that is hard to find elsewhere, stating, “It’s all about the music for me… I’ve been in this game a long time, so it’s about a certain type of hip-hop that I want to make.”

The complexity of their relationship and Pusha’s clear stance showcase the often intricate dynamics within the rap industry. Despite their fallout, Pusha T’s commitment to his craft remains strong, focusing on the type of music he wants to create.

This development certainly adds another layer to the ongoing narrative between these two influential figures in hip-hop, leaving fans to ponder the future of their musical collaborations.
