Production of the Apple TV+ comedy series “Brothers,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, has been halted due to leadership changes. The series, inspired by the genuine friendship between the two actors, has already completed filming eight out of its planned ten episodes in Texas before the production pause.

David West Read, who was the writer, showrunner, and executive producer, has left the project amid creative differences. Lee Eisenberg is in negotiations to step in as the new showrunner for the remaining episodes and the necessary reshoots. Eisenberg brings a wealth of experience, having previously collaborated with Apple on the anthology series “Little America,” along with notable shows like “Lessons in Chemistry” and “WeCrashed.” He has also worked on the acclaimed series “Jury Duty” and “The Office.”

The series features a talented ensemble cast, including Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Oona Yaffe, Highdee Kuan, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, and Noah Carganilla. Alongside McConaughey and Harrelson, who are also executive producers, Blood Bost and Jeremy Plager from Skydance Television will executive produce the series, with Jason Winer directing several episodes.

In a light-hearted twist, “Brothers” explores how the friendship between McConaughey and Harrelson is challenged when their respective families attempt to live together at McConaughey’s Texas ranch.

Despite the production setback, there is optimism that the show will emerge stronger with its new creative direction under Eisenberg. The collaboration aims to deliver not only humor but also a heartfelt portrayal of family dynamics and friendship.
