Pro wrestling icon Sid Eudy, renowned for his towering stature and commanding presence, passed away at the age of 63, as confirmed by the Crittenden County coroner in Arkansas. Eudy, who lived in Marion, Arkansas, with his wife, Sabrina Estes Eudy, had been battling cancer for several years. His son, Gunnar, shared the news of his father’s death on Facebook.
Eudy, famously known by his ring names Sycho Sid and Sid Vicious, achieved notable success in professional wrestling, securing the WWF Championship twice, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions, and the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship also twice.
His wrestling career primarily flourished in the 1990s during a time when pro wrestling gained immense popularity among mainstream audiences. Eudy headlined numerous pay-per-view events for WWF and WCW, including the prestigious WrestleMania VIII and XIII and WCW’s Starrcade.
Standing at 6 feet, 9 inches tall, he was not only a physical powerhouse but also a theatrical performer. His WWE biography highlights him as one of the most formidable Superstars to ever compete, known for his intense and often brutal style that left a significant mark on the wrestling world, with a list of rivals including legends like Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, and Bret Hart.
Joining WCW in 1989, Eudy quickly made a name for himself, transitioning to WWE by 1991. He went on to capture the WWE Championship in both 1996 and 1997, earning the title of “The Master and Ruler of the World.”
Fellow wrestler and Hall of Famer Booker T. Huffman paid tribute to Eudy on X, stating that he played a crucial role in his and his brother’s careers, expressing deep condolences to Eudy’s family. Gunnar emphasized that his father was not only a force in the ring but also a man of strength, kindness, and love, and he will be profoundly missed. Sid Eudy is survived by his wife, Sabrina, and his two sons, Gunnar and Frank.
