Priyanka Chopra is currently in Paris, but her mind is on the upcoming 2026 Met Gala. Even though she will be in Antarctica filming her new project, “Varanasi,” on the first Monday in May, she is excited by this year’s theme, “Fashion Is Art.” Chopra expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I mean… What? You can do anything with that! And, honestly, being a spectator can be just as fun.” Although she will miss the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she has already had a taste of the artistic direction in fashion at Jonathan Anderson’s autumn/winter 2026 presentation for Dior. Chopra praised Anderson’s unique approach, noting, “There’s no one out there who does what he does. It’s artful, it’s witty, it’s playful, it’s clever, it’s cheeky. Jonathan’s world is entirely his own.”
Reflecting on her personal history with luxury brands, Chopra recounted her first memory of Dior: her mother’s bottle of Poison – a fragrance that made waves upon its 1985 release. This early encounter with luxury, even before she fully grasped the concept of brands, sits with her fondly. “I didn’t know about luxury brands back then,” she reminisced, “but I knew what luxury looked like. My parents were all about presenting themselves well and having personality in how they dressed. That, to me, is what fashion is all about.” Chopra’s principles of style were further shaped when she moved to Queens, New York, at the age of 13, where she became influenced by diverse styles, marveling at the fashionable crowds around her while dreaming of dressing like the vibrant figures she saw in R&B music videos.
Chopra’s journey illustrates a deep connection between fashion and personal expression, showcasing how her childhood experiences and cultural influences have shaped her style sensibilities. As she prepares for future events while balancing her career, her passion for fashion and art remains a constant source of inspiration.
