Princeton, New Jersey – The Princeton Tigers are set to compete against their Ivy League rivals, Penn and Cornell, in an exciting swimming and diving meet. The events will take place at Drexel Pool, where diving will kick off on November 22, followed by pool events on November 23, starting at 3:00 PM.
Impressively, Princeton’s swimming and diving team has already made headlines by breaking five pool records. Key performers include Yanning Zhang, Patrick Dinu, Logan Noguchi, and Brett Feyerick, who shattered the 200 medley relay record with a remarkable time of 1:29.94. Individually, Zhang set a new standard in the 100 backstroke with a time of 47.13, while Dinu excelled in the 100 freestyle at 42.91. Mitch Schott also made his mark by breaking the pool record in the 200 butterfly, recording a time of 1:42.22, which ranks as the second fastest in the program’s history. The team concluded the day with an impressive performance in the 400 freestyle, finishing in 2:54.26.
Freshman standout Patrick Dinu made a notable debut at the season opener on November 9, breaking both the freshmen and program records in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 42.51, and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 53.49.
Mitch Schott has also had an exceptional start to the 2024-25 season, setting a personal record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:32.78, and he is currently in the top 10 fastest times for multiple events.
On the diving front, sophomore Aidan Wang led the team by winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. His teammates, Luca Fassi and George Callanan, also shined, securing second and third places in the 1-meter event, with Callanan finishing second on the 3-meter.
Following a strong start to the season, Princeton’s swimming and diving team has climbed into the No. 25 position in the latest CSCAA dual meet poll.
In the 2023-24 NCAA Championships, Wang, Fassi, and Callanan represented the men’s swimming and diving team, competing in both 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, alongside Callanan on the platform event.
The Tigers look forward to building on their momentum as they return eight members of their previous All-Ivy roster, including Aidan Wang and Noah Sech, who earned First Team honors.
Moreover, Princeton’s commitment to excellence was evident as swimmers and divers from 12 nations showcased their skills at the Olympic trials. Notably, Adell Sabovic, representing Kosovo, participated in the 100 meter freestyle and served as the flag bearer in the closing ceremony.
