Prime Video is making significant strides in Poland, recognizing the country as a key emerging hub for streaming content in Europe. At a recent showcase in Warsaw, the platform announced an array of original programming, investment plans, and updates on various projects aimed at enhancing the Polish creative landscape.
Leading the event were Ritchie Ordonez, Director of Prime Video EU Emerging, and Sylwia Wilk, Senior Content Acquisition Manager at Prime Video Poland. They highlighted the platform’s commitment to local talent and storytelling.
Among the exciting new projects is a documentary series centered on Dorota ‘Doda’ Rabczewska, a popular Polish singer known for her vibrant and sometimes controversial public persona. The series promises to delve into Doda’s emotional breakups, conflicts within the music industry, and her ongoing struggles against criticism over her career.
Additionally, Prime Video has announced “Rap Generation,” an eight-episode competition series showcasing Poland’s top young rappers vying for a recording contract with Warner Music Poland. This show will provide aspiring artists with the opportunity to train and perform under the guidance of established professionals, including notable judges from the Polish music scene.
Further enhancing its offerings, Prime Video has greenlit a local adaptation of “The 50,” a reality competition format where content creators and reality stars will embark on intriguing challenges for a cash prize that fans can also win, thereby engaging the audience in a unique way.
Looking ahead, Prime Video is set to release a documentary on Wojciech Szczęsny, one of Poland’s most celebrated soccer players, in 2025, alongside a series on the national ski jumping team and a new season of the popular comedy show “LOL: Last One Laughing Poland.”
Ritchie Ordonez emphasized that Poland has emerged as one of Prime Video’s fastest-growing markets in Europe and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to investing in local content. This strategic focus illustrates a shift in Amazon’s European content division, aiming to enhance customer choices by providing a mix of international and Polish original programming.
As Prime Video gears up for a new leadership chapter in Europe, it signals a promising future for the Polish creative industry, with the potential for local stories and talents to reach wider audiences. This commitment to local content not only supports the entertainment industry in Poland but also enriches the diversity of the streaming landscape across Europe.
With this boost in investment and local programming, Prime Video is poised to expand its influence and engagement in Poland, ensuring that Polish viewers have access to quality entertainment tailored to their preferences.
