Pratika Rawal Becomes Joint-Fastest Indian to 1,000 ODI Runs

Indian cricketer Pratika Rawal has made headlines by becoming the joint-fastest player in the world to score 1,000 runs in Women’s One Day Internationals (ODIs). This remarkable feat places her alongside the late Australian cricketer Lindsay Reeler, who previously held the record for 37 years. Pratika achieved this milestone during a match against England in Indore, needing just 12 runs to reach the mark and surpass the existing Indian record held by Deepti Sharma.

Despite being dismissed for only six runs in 14 balls, Rawal completed her 1,000-run journey in just 23 innings, matching Reeler’s record set on December 18, 1988. This achievement also establishes her as the fastest Indian to reach the 1,000-run milestone, breaking Sharma’s record, which was accomplished in 29 innings.

Pratika’s ascent in ODI cricket has been phenomenal. Just earlier this year, she broke another significant record by being the fastest to score 500 runs in Women’s ODIs. She reached this benchmark in just eight innings during a tri-nation series in Sri Lanka, surpassing Charlotte Edwards’s previous record of nine innings.

The importance of her performance is underscored by the growing visibility of women’s cricket, which is garnering more attention and appreciation globally. As the Women’s ICC World Cup progresses, Rawal’s achievements not only reflect her personal talent but may also inspire a new generation of cricketers.

With her rapid rise in the game, Pratika Rawal’s journey is a testament to hard work and dedication, and her record-breaking milestones could pave the way for even greater accomplishments in the future for Indian women’s cricket.
