Portnoy Skips Ohio Stadium for Big Noon Kickoff, Broadcasts from Mississippi State

Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy will not be appearing in Ohio Stadium as part of FOX’s ‘Big Noon Kickoff’ crew, mirroring his absence from the Week 1 matchup between Texas and Ohio State. During his regular segment on “The Unnamed Show” on Barstool, Portnoy made it clear that his lack of participation is not a result of any issues with FOX, but rather a decision made by the Big Ten. He stated, “We have a great relationship with Fox Sports. They have been nothing but great working with us. It’s like the oppo-world of ESPN,” emphasizing the positive dynamics he shares with FOX.

Ohio State’s policies prevent Michigan alumni, of which Portnoy is a vocal supporter, from being on the field during games. Consequently, Portnoy and his team will instead be broadcasting from Mississippi State. Reflecting on his past relationship with ESPN, where a brief partnership led to the airing of a single episode of “Barstool Van Talk” before cancellation in 2018, Portnoy remains focused on his current collaborations.

“We have a great relationship with Fox, and I am not trying to make their lives more difficult because we have a great relationship,” Portnoy reiterated. He dismissed any speculation about issues with FOX Sports, while hinting that other dynamics might differ within the sports media landscape. Overall, it highlights Portnoy’s ongoing commitment to Barstool’s unique position in sports commentary.
