A Portland couple is making headlines with their remarkable achievement on the beloved quiz show “Jeopardy!” Jason Singer has recently become a champion on the show, winning the episode that aired on July 1, 2025. This win holds special significance as it comes four years after his wife, Susan McMillan, also achieved the same status in 2021. The “Jeopardy!” team confirmed that they might be the first married couple to both be winners on the show.

In his winning moment, Singer answered “Who is [Laurence] Olivier?” in the Final Jeopardy round, securing a total of $22,401. In contrast, McMillan had previously earned $35,600 during her champion run.

McMillan shared her insights on her husband’s preparation, emphasizing the importance of buzzer timing, which she noted is crucial among the knowledgeable contestants. “Everyone there knows pretty much all the information,” she explained on “Good Morning America.” Singer attributed much of his preparation success to his wife’s influence, stating, “Just the fact of being her husband is the greatest preparation one could ever get.”

In a heartfelt gesture during his victory, Singer included the hashtag “#BringBackSusan” in his final response, underscoring the strong bond the couple shares. Their mutual appreciation for trivia blossomed early in their relationship, and even after 20 years together, they still enjoy practicing trivia during lunch.

This inspirational story highlights not only their individual successes but also the supportive nature of their relationship, showing how teamwork and shared passions can lead to remarkable achievements. The couple’s journey reflects that with encouragement and dedication, dreams can indeed come true.
