Port Denarau burst into life on New Year’s Eve as thousands of locals gathered at the popular tourist destination to welcome in 2026. Visitors made their way from as far as Sigatoka to enjoy the festivities at the marina, where restaurants extended their hours to accommodate those eager to celebrate the occasion.
Among the attendees was Mukesh Chand, a 35-year-old who traveled from Lomawai with his family. “We wanted to celebrate New Year differently this year, so we decided to come to Port Denarau because we know they always have a New Year’s Eve party,” Chand shared. “I hope to come again next year.”
The lively atmosphere and communal spirit showcased the region’s ability to bring people together in celebration, promising a hopeful start to the new year for those who attended the festivities.
