Polk County Solid Waste Division Announces Changes for Veterans Day Collection Schedule

Published: November 4, 2024

Bartow, Fla. – The Polk County Solid Waste Division has announced a revised schedule for residential trash collection in recognition of Veterans Day. Starting from November 11, 2024, all residential collection services will operate on a “push back” schedule due to the holiday. This adjustment applies to multiple holidays throughout the year, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Specifically, for the Veterans Day observance, collection services originally scheduled for Monday, November 11, will now occur on Tuesday, November 12. The collection scheduled for Tuesday will be moved to Wednesday, and this pattern will continue through the week. Consequently, Friday collection services will be shifted to Saturday.

Additionally, please note that the North Central Landfill and the North Central Transfer Station will be closed on Veterans Day, November 11, and will reopen on Tuesday, November 12.

For further details regarding the holiday schedule and related closures, please visit the Polk County Solid Waste Division’s website.

This change provides an opportunity for residents to plan their waste management needs in advance, ensuring a smooth transition during the holiday period while honoring those who have served in the military. By informing the community about these adjustments, the Solid Waste Division upholds its commitment to public service and responsiveness.
