In the ongoing wave of recall votes, 25 electoral districts are participating in the first wave, which includes 24 members from the Kuomintang (KMT) and independent Hsinchu City Mayor Gao Hong-an. As various political parties, including the KMT, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), and the People’s Party, rally their supporters to head to the polls, questions arise about whether the KMT can retain its seats in the Legislative Yuan or if the DPP can reshape the political landscape. The latest vote counting progress for the recall, scheduled for July 26, is available for readers.

As of 16:51, the voting conditions have improved compared to the rainy days prior, with clear skies in places like Keelung, Taipei, Taoyuan, and Hualien. The voter turnout is expected to exceed 50%.

In Taipei City, the recall situation shows that Wang Hong-wei and Hsu Chiao-hsin are specific targets. Wang’s votes stand at 39,124 in favor and 44,523 against, while Hsu has 29,415 in favor and 35,621 against. Other representatives are also facing scrutiny with notable vote counts that may indicate their potential recall.

In New Taipei City, legislator Yeh Yuan-chi is considered one of the most at-risk politicians, currently having 34,721 votes for and 36,491 against. Other representatives such as Hung Meng-kai and Cheng Chih-lun are experiencing similar threats to their positions.

Taoyuan City is facing significant pressure as all six KMT legislators are under recall threats. Notable figures like Niu Hsu-ting and Lu Ming-che are experiencing votes that may lead to their removal.

In Taichung City, several local representatives are also being targeted, including Liao Wei-hsiang and Huang Jian-hao, both of whom have unfavorable vote ratios highlighting the mounting challenge they face.

In other districts, Mayor Gao Hong-an of Hsinchu and various legislators report voter counts that suggest a potential shift in political power as the recall voting advances.

The final counts will be confirmed by the Central Election Commission.
