Takuro Fushimi, Senior Manager of Product Management, shared this impressive news during a recent interview with TechRadar Gaming, highlighting that the Portal has exceeded initial expectations regarding user engagement since its launch almost two years ago.
Fushimi noted the uniqueness of the Portal as a dedicated Remote Play device and addressed concerns prior to its launch about whether it would meet consumer demand. He indicated that the response from the gaming community has been overwhelmingly positive, leading to increased usage and engagement levels. Data reveals that users of the PlayStation Portal exhibit greater engagement than non-users, demonstrating the device’s popularity and success as part of the gaming ecosystem.
In addition to its current achievements, Sony is also refining the Portal’s functionality with an upcoming update scheduled for November 5. This update will introduce an exciting cloud streaming feature exclusively for PlayStation Plus Premium members, allowing two users to play different games simultaneously—one on the PS5 and the other through the Portal. This enhancement is aimed at providing more gameplay options, further enticing PS5 owners to explore the capabilities of the Portal and engage with the PlayStation Plus service.
