Playboi Carti is facing legal troubles following an incident during his tour in Utah. The rapper, known for his track “Rather Lie,” has been charged with misdemeanor assault after a confrontation on October 2 involving a limo driver and his girlfriend.

According to reports from law enforcement, the altercation began when Carti and his girlfriend got into a heated argument while being driven from the Waldorf Astoria in Park City to a rehearsal for his Antagonist Tour. The driver, Carl Reynolds, intervened during what was described as a dispute over personal matters. It’s claimed that the situation escalated when Carti threatened both Carl and his girlfriend.

Reynolds alleges that Carti physically assaulted his girlfriend, striking her in the chest, which prompted him to safely pull over on the highway in Heber City. He attempted to ask Carti’s security personnel to remove the rapper from the vehicle. However, as Carl’s girlfriend was exiting, Carti reportedly punched him in the face, resulting in visible injuries including a swollen jaw and whiplash. The confrontation was reportedly witnessed by another driver from ALC A Limousine Connection, the company Carl was working for at the time.

Law enforcement officials responded to the scene, documenting Carl’s injuries, and confirmed that an investigation is underway. Carl, who is considering legal action, expresses concerns primarily for the safety of others, including his girlfriend, with the intent of preventing further incidents involving the rapper.

This unfortunate event underscores the ongoing challenges that come with fame, as artists navigate both their personal lives and public personas. Supporters of Carti will hope that this situation can be resolved amicably, allowing the artist to focus on his music and upcoming performances.
