PISA – In the lead-up to a crucial home match against Bologna, coach Oscar Hiljemark has examined the technical, tactical, and psychological dynamics of his team, which is in desperate need of a turnaround after securing only one victory in twenty-six league matches.

Hiljemark began by discussing the emotional and tactical management of the squad following their latest outing, addressing the controversy surrounding a penalty not awarded against Fiorentina without stirring any debate. “I accept the refereeing decisions; I don’t want to fuel any discussions about it,” he stated.

“The game of football allows for only ninety minutes to determine the result,” the coach expressed. “The disappointment from the game in Florence was quite natural, as we should have capitalized better on certain situations. However, our focus has quickly shifted back to our daily work. Tactically, I believe the system of play takes a backseat to the intensity and attitude of the team.”

He emphasized the fluidity of modern game formations, pointing out that a basic setup like 3-4-3 can adapt to 4-3-3 or 3-2-3-2 depending on possession phases. “The real difference lies in our ability to read the situations in which we face the most criticism.”

Turning to the team’s defense, Hiljemark highlighted the improvements seen under his management: “In three matches, we’ve conceded three goals against teams like Milan and Fiorentina. This is an indicator of progress, although we are aware that individual errors remain an inevitable part of this sport.”

Regarding player availability, the coach noted several key absences. “We won’t have Scuffet and Denoon available, as the latter is still not fit. On a positive note, Vural is making progress and has returned to training. Angori and Toure are also responding well and will be assessed further tomorrow. Akinsanmiro needs more time to regain his physical and technical standards following his participation in the Africa Cup.”

Hiljemark also addressed the competition for the goalkeeper position, stating, “Semper has fully recovered and is training with the group, but Nicolas has recently delivered excellent performances. My technical decision has been made and will be confirmed when the lineups are announced.”

Looking ahead at the last twelve matches of the season, the coach outlined a pragmatic approach necessary for their survival in the league, urging the squad to focus solely on their own results. “Our time horizon should be limited to the next minute we play. Survival is not built on long-term projections, but by approaching each game with maximum intensity and a clear mind.”

Finally, in light of suboptimal ticket pre-sales, Hiljemark made a heartfelt appeal to the local community: “I completely understand the disappointment and emotional difficulties our fans are experiencing during this time. For this reason, their support is essential now more than ever. Anyone entering our stadium as opponents must feel the impact of not just eleven players, but an entire unit. Only through complete solidarity can we hope to turn this season around.”
