Jaden Philogene continues to make progress from his MCL injury, but he remains sidelined ahead of Saturday’s home match against Leicester City. Alongside him, Ashley Young and goalkeeper David Button are also set to miss the game due to their respective injuries. Philogene, 24, has not played since mid-January after experiencing a setback during his recovery. Young, now 40, sustained a hip injury during training.

Manager Kieran McKenna addressed the injury updates, stating, “Not much change. I think the only two who are definitely not involved are Jaden and Ashley, and David Button has a little calf issue but will hopefully be training next week.” He mentioned that Philogene is increasing his ball work but has yet to fully train with the squad.

During the recent matches, Leif Davis found himself on the bench for the victory over Hull City, as he had previously for a defeat at Sheffield United. Davis had been nursing a knee injury, giving Jacob Greaves the opportunity to shine at left-back. McKenna provided insight on Davis’s situation, noting, “He had some muscle tightness and soreness,” highlighting the necessity of balancing player fitness and performance with upcoming games.

Chuba Akpom, who has not started a league match since New Year’s Day, is also expected to contribute before the season’s end. McKenna noted that Akpom has had a good week of training and has been integrating well with the team. His ability to create scoring chances, particularly on the left side, adds to the team’s depth as they navigate a busy schedule.

With a full squad, McKenna emphasized the importance of each player’s contribution in training and their readiness to enter the game, stating, “Everyone who is in the group has a part to play in helping us to get the next result.” As the season progresses, the team is optimistic that all players, including those returning from injury, will play integral roles in achieving their goals.

Overall, while the team faces challenges with injuries, the positive progress of Philogene and Akpom’s return to form is encouraging as they prepare for the crucial matches ahead.
