Airlines are making efforts to resume limited flight services at Philadelphia International Airport following a significant snowstorm that resulted in over 600 flight cancellations on Monday. The inclement weather delivered more than a foot of snow, causing major disruptions to air travel in the area.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker reported that while departures are currently at a standstill, the airport remains operational. Limited service is anticipated to commence around 2 p.m. on Monday.

As the storm progressed, a total of 605 flights were canceled, with an additional 12 flights experiencing delays by 2:05 p.m. on the same day.

The winter storm significantly impacted the Delaware Valley, with certain localities recording impressive snowfall amounts. By Monday morning, areas around Philadelphia had recorded the following totals:

– Fox Chase: 13.8 inches
– Rockledge: 13.8 inches
– Philadelphia International: 13.7 inches
– Belmont: 12.7 inches
– Bustleton: 12.0 inches
– Point Breeze: 11.0 inches

Fortunately, forecasts indicate that the snowfall is expected to taper off from west to east later in the afternoon, offering a glimpse of normalcy for travel plans in the coming days. Travelers are advised to monitor their flight status closely as airlines work to restore operations at the airport.
