The Philadelphia region is bracing for more wintry weather, as snow is expected to return on Sunday, January 18, 2026, following some accumulation over the weekend. From 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, residents should prepare for a mix of rain and snow, with a general forecast of 1-3 inches of snow. However, a localized band along I-95 could see totals rise to as much as 5 inches. Areas along the Jersey Shore and in the Delaware Beaches may experience lesser amounts, starting with rain before transitioning to snow.

Previously, light snow showers began affecting the Pennsylvania suburbs, Berks County, and the Lehigh Valley around 7 a.m. on Saturday, continuing into early afternoon. Accumulations from Saturday’s snowfall reached as much as 5 inches in some areas, whereas Philadelphia itself saw about 1 inch. Unfortunately, this snowfall has already led to hazardous road conditions, with multiple accidents reported, including a significant 12-car pileup on I-78 in Berks County.

As a precaution, Montgomery County has declared a snow alert emergency set to go into effect at 7 p.m. on January 17, 2026, particularly targeting Lansdale. Residents are urged to move any parked vehicles from designated snow routes by this deadline to avoid tickets. Additionally, snow emergencies have been declared in at least two other jurisdictions within Montgomery County: North Wales Borough and Upper Gwynedd.

With more snow on the way on Sunday, efforts to clear the existing accumulation are vital. NBC10’s Kelsey Kushner is closely covering the situation, providing timely updates through the NBC10 app and First Alert Weather team.

The community is reminded to exercise caution while traveling and to stay informed about weather developments as snow continues to impact the area.
