Phil Hartman, the charismatic comedian and actor known for his work on “Saturday Night Live” and as the voice of numerous characters on “The Simpsons,” met a tragic end on May 28, 1998. He was married to Brynn Hartman for a decade, but their relationship was reportedly strained. It was believed that Brynn struggled with substance abuse, a point of contention between the couple. On the night of the incident, Brynn was seen socializing with a friend, television producer Christine Zander, who later disclosed that they had not discussed any marital issues and had plans to meet again the following weekend.
