Lulu explains that for the first three to four weeks, educators should observe their students closely, assessing various skills such as cognitive, physical, fine motor, and vocational abilities. Many students may struggle with traditional tasks like writing but possess other remarkable talents, such as singing. By identifying these strengths, teachers can pave the way for significant progress and meaningful learning experiences.

Another educator, Sisilia Saulekaleka, reinforces this approach by sharing her insights into how some students flourish when lessons align with their personal interests. For example, one student, Aquila, who is on the autism spectrum, responds positively when lessons incorporate his passion for drawing. Saulekaleka notes that when learning is tailored to a child’s interests, it reduces agitation and enhances their ability to absorb information.
