Pennsylvania has officially opened applications for its fourth annual Equity in Early Childhood Champion Awards. This award seeks to shine a light on important equity initiatives within the realm of early childhood education, which encompasses child care services, evidence-based home visitation, and early intervention programs.
The awards are designed to honor professionals and organizations that reflect the principles outlined in the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) Position Statement on Advancing Equity in Early Childhood Education. Pennsylvania is acknowledging those who have made significant strides in promoting equity through their work in early childhood education and afterschool programs.
Nominations are welcomed for individuals or organizations that have actively supported children and their families by championing diversity, fostering a sense of inclusion, and striving to dismantle systemic inequalities that hinder access to equitable educational opportunities. Applicants must showcase how they or their programs have promoted these values.
The deadline for submissions is set for 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 24. To learn more or to submit an application, interested parties can visit The Pennsylvania Key website.
This initiative represents a forward-thinking approach to enhancing early childhood education and highlights the importance of creating inclusive environments where all children can thrive. By encouraging nominations and celebrating those who make a difference, Pennsylvania is paving the way for a more equitable future in education.
