The Public Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Peni Sikivou as the new permanent secretary for National Planning, Development, and Statistics, a decision made with the Prime Minister’s endorsement. Luke Rokovada, the chairman of the PSC, praised Mr. Sikivou for his remarkable qualifications, which include over 30 years of experience in government and regional organizations. His diverse skill set encompasses economic planning, project management, financial oversight, and efficiency assessments, positioning him as an invaluable asset to the ministry.
Mr. Sikivou’s prior involvement with the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat in Vanuatu underscores his regional influence and commitment to tackling significant development challenges. He obtained a Master of Science degree in macro-economic policy and planning for developing nations from the University of Bradford in the UK and is currently pursuing a PhD, illustrating his dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.
The PSC is optimistic that Mr. Sikivou’s leadership will significantly advance national planning, policy alignment, and statistical analysis initiatives.
