The devastating attack on December 7, 1941, involved 350 Japanese aircraft targeting the U.S. naval base, resulting in the tragic loss of 2,403 American lives and crippling much of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. The following day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt famously addressed Congress, describing the date as “a date which will live in infamy,” a statement that underscored the urgency of a declaration of war against Japan.
This year, the ceremony carried the theme “Forging Ahead,” emphasizing both the historical importance of the events and the critical role of younger generations in honoring and preserving this legacy.
