Peacock shifts The Paper to full-season binge release on Sept. 4

Peacock is changing the release plan for its Office-based follow-up The Paper, opting to drop the full 10-episode season at once on Sept. 4. The switch moves the comedy from a four-week staggered rollout—starting with the first four episodes on launch day and releasing two new episodes each week through Sept. 25—to a single, binge-friendly premiere.

The decision, Peacock, Universal Television and the show’s producers say, comes after positive responses from people who previewed the series (though reviews remain embargoed until closer to the premiere). By releasing the entire season upfront, the platform hopes to maximize early buzz and bring The Paper to audiences well before the traditional fall TV schedule becomes crowded.

The Paper is set in the same world as The Office, following the documentary crew that previously filmed the workers at Dunder Miflin as they take on a new subject. The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, the new editor of the Toledo Truth-Teller, a historic Ohio newspaper facing hard times. Joining him are Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key and Oscar Nuñez, who reprises his Office role. Guest stars include Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim and Tracy Letts. Ikumelo, Edelman, Rahill and Welch also serve as writers on the series.

Greg Daniels, who created The Office in the U.S., and Michael Koman co-create The Paper, with executive producers including The Office’s Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas.

This scheduling move reflects a broader streaming strategy that favors binge releases to maximize early engagement and social chatter, while giving Peacock a strong, pre-season spotlight for a title tied to a beloved TV universe. The Paper’s late-summer drop should help build momentum and attract Office fans eager for new stories in the familiar world.

Summary: The Paper will debut its entire 10-episode season on Sept. 4 as a binge release, with a star-studded cast and a production team linked to The Office, signaling a strategic push to capture early momentum before the fall TV rush. A hopeful note: this approach could broaden Peacock’s appeal to fans of The Office while delivering a fresh, serialized comedy in a format many viewers now prefer.
