Paul Walter Hauser is gearing up for the role of a lifetime as he prepares to portray the late comedic icon Chris Farley in an upcoming biopic. The film, in development with Josh Gad, explores the life and career of the beloved actor who made a lasting impact on comedy through his work on “Saturday Night Live” and memorable films like “Tommy Boy,” “Black Sheep,” and “Beverly Hills Ninja.”
During a recent interview at the Los Angeles premiere of “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” Hauser shared his excitement about the project and his vision for the film’s cast. Among his notable suggestions is actor Sam Rockwell, whom he believes would perfectly embody Lorne Michaels, the mastermind behind “SNL.” Hauser expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I have some ideas for who to cast for Lorne; I really want Sam Rockwell to play Lorne Michaels, which I don’t think I’ve told anyone yet.” He lightheartedly pitched the idea to Rockwell, recalling their previous collaboration in the drama “Richard Jewell” and humorously implying that he could entertain them both with his Farley impressions during filming.
The biopic’s script is in the capable hands of screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, whom Hauser praised, calling the latest draft “the best.” Although details regarding the plot remain closely guarded, the project’s announcement back in April of last year generated significant anticipation among fans of Farley’s unique brand of humor.
Chris Farley’s legacy as an actor and comedian continues to resonate with audiences, and this biopic is set to illuminate his journey, showcasing both his comedic genius and personal struggles. As the film moves forward, fans are hopeful for an authentic portrayal that not only honors Farley’s contributions to entertainment but also inspires a new generation of comedians.
