The New England Patriots have officially signed quarterback Tommy DeVito to a two-year contract worth $7.4 million, which includes $2 million guaranteed. This move reflects the Patriots’ ongoing efforts to bolster their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

DeVito, who is 27 years old, transitioned to the University of Illinois after playing at Syracuse. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, landing with the New York Giants following the 2023 NFL Draft. Initially waived by the Giants after preseason, DeVito found himself back on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster during the season.

Despite spending parts of two seasons with the Giants, including a brief re-signing last offseason, he was once again waived in August. The Patriots quickly took advantage of his availability, claiming him shortly after his release.

In the 2024 season, DeVito showcased promising potential, playing in three games and completing 70.5 percent of his passes for a total of 257 yards. While he did not record any touchdowns or interceptions during this time, his accuracy and ability to manage the game show promising signs for his future in New England.

This signing highlights the Patriots’ commitment to enhancing their quarterback depth as they navigate the competitive landscape of the NFL. With DeVito’s college experience and recent playing time, he could be positioned to contribute effectively to the team’s roster.
