Actor Patrick Warburton has been announced as the monarch for Bacchus LVII, leading the Krewe of Bacchus during Mardi Gras 2026 on February 15. This year’s parade is especially significant as it celebrates America’s 250th anniversary.

Clark Brennan, the captain of the Krewe of Bacchus, expressed pride in selecting Warburton, highlighting his contributions to both entertainment and the community. According to Brennan, “Patrick’s legacy as a distinguished actor in America’s finest traditions exemplifies the values of family, charity and service to the community that have made our country great,” making him an ideal fit to lead the krewe’s milestone celebration.

Warburton’s illustrious career spans nearly four decades, encompassing a variety of film, television, and voice acting roles. He is best known for his performances as David Puddy on Seinfeld, as the title character in The Tick, and as Jeff Bingham in Rules of Engagement. Additionally, he lent his voice to iconic animated characters like Joe Swanson on Family Guy, Kronk in Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove, and Buzz Lightyear in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. Currently, he is voicing Mayor Winddancer in the upcoming film Zootopia 2.

Outside of his entertainment work, Warburton and his wife, Cathy Jennings, have made substantial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, raising over $40 million through their annual celebrity golf tournament, “The Warburton,” which is now in its 16th year.

The theme for the 2026 Bacchus parade is “Bacchus Celebrates America 250,” featuring 32 hand-painted floats by Kern Studios that will celebrate significant eras and events in American history, including the Roaring 20s, World Wars, pioneering women, and the National Parks. Signature floats like BacchaKong, Bacchasaurus, and Bacchagator will return, along with a new addition, Baby Whoppa. The krewe’s 1,700 riders will distribute more than 200 custom throws, many of which will feature a patriotic red, white, and blue design, alongside 250,000 pairs of Bacchus socks with 47 unique designs.

Founded in 1968 by hospitality executives led by restaurateur Owen “Pip” Brennan, the Krewe of Bacchus has a storied history, with past celebrity kings including Shaquille O’Neal, Bob Hope, Danny Kaye, Will Ferrell, Nicolas Cage, and Anthony Mackie.

The Bacchus Parade is set to begin at 5:15 p.m. along the Uptown route, promising to be a festive and memorable celebration that honors both the heritage and future of the nation.
