Patrick Reed of the United States is leading the Dubai Desert Classic after a strong performance in the second round, finishing with a score of 66. Reed’s impressive showing at the Emirates Golf Club brings him to nine under par, one stroke ahead of England’s Andy Sullivan, who achieved the best round of the day with a score of 65. Sullivan’s round included four birdies, three bogeys, and an eagle on the final hole, setting him up for a competitive weekend as he eyes his fifth title on the DP World Tour.

Reed, a former Masters champion in 2018, is looking to better his second-place finish at this tournament three years ago. His sharp play included an eagle on the 13th hole and a flawless round devoid of bogeys.

Rory McIlroy, a five-time major winner, is currently in a challenging position, sitting seven shots off the lead at two under par after a three-under 69 in round two. McIlroy demonstrated resilience, improving on his previous one-over 73. Reflecting on his round, he noted the tricky wind conditions that emerged during the back nine but expressed satisfaction with his overall performance, stating, “I felt I did pretty well” and emphasizing his hope to make a strong push on Saturday.

Sharing the leaderboard are Italian players Andrea Pavan and Francesco Molinari, who are both positioned one stroke behind Sullivan. Nicolai Hojgaard from Denmark stands in fifth place at six under. Meanwhile, Tyrrell Hatton and several other contenders are closely trailing at five under, keeping the competition fierce.

Tommy Fleetwood struggled in his second round, finishing one over and tied for 60th, which leaves him with work to do in the final rounds. As the tournament progresses into the weekend, there is plenty of excitement, with many players still in contention for the title.
