Patrick Dempsey is set to take on a gripping role in the new series “Memory of a Killer,” where he will portray Angelo Flannery, a hitman grappling with a crucial personal crisis. As Dempsey sheds his image as a heartthrob, he embodies a character whose life is a complicated balancing act between two very different worlds. In the bustling streets of New York City, Flannery is a ruthless assassin working for Dutch, played by Michael Imperioli, who disguises his criminal activities behind the facade of a successful restaurant. Meanwhile, in the quieter community of Cooperstown, Flannery lives as a copier salesman and devoted father.
The series dives deep into the challenges Flannery faces as he tries to keep his dual existence under wraps. However, the plot thickens when Flannery begins to confront the daunting realities of early-onset Alzheimer’s, a disease that he cannot elude. According to the series synopsis, “Having built and maintained a brick wall between his two worlds, Angelo has seamlessly juggled and compartmentalized for years. But now that’s all about to change, because Alzheimer’s is a foe he can’t outrun, and he knows too well how this ends.”
“Memory of a Killer” is inspired by “De Zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer Case),” a novel by Belgian author Jef Geeraerts. The story has been previously adapted into a 2003 Belgian film and a 2022 American movie titled “Memory,” starring Liam Neeson.
The series is set to premiere on FOX on January 25 at 10 p.m. ET, just after the NFC Championship Game, before transitioning to its regular Monday night slot at 9 p.m. ET. Viewers looking to catch up can stream episodes the day after they air on Hulu.
The cast also features Gina Torres as Linda Grant, Richard Harmon as Joe, Odeya Rush as Maria, Daniel David Stewart as Jeff, and Peter Gadiot as Dave. With a compelling setup and an intense exploration of memory and identity, “Memory of a Killer” promises to be a captivating watch.
Fans can look forward to a total of 10 episodes, with Episode 2 airing on January 26. Following the detailed episode schedule, viewers can track the series as it unfolds every week. This intriguing blend of action and deep emotional narrative, particularly regarding Alzheimer’s, adds a layer that could resonate with many, making the series a noteworthy addition to winter television offerings.
