Micah Parsons is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left ankle after sustaining an injury in the final moments of the Dallas Cowboys’ 20-15 victory over the New York Giants. The incident occurred with 3:30 left in the game while Parsons was attempting to rush the passer. He was blocking the line when he was accidentally hit by Giants’ guard Greg Van Roten, causing him to leave the field. After the game, Parsons reported that the initial X-rays were negative and he has hopes of returning next week.
Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence also exited the game due to a right foot injury in the third quarter but reassured that it was not related to prior surgeries. Lawrence will also have an MRI on Friday.
Parsons expressed that he had simply iced the injury and was awaiting further information from the MRI. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott praised Parsons’ performance and expressed optimism regarding his condition, hoping the injury was minor.
The Cowboys were relieved to secure a win after suffering two consecutive home losses earlier in the season, during which their defense struggled significantly against the run. In their latest matchup, the Giants were limited to just 26 rushing yards, while quarterback Daniel Jones passed for 281 yards.
Prescott contributed to the win with two touchdown passes in the first half and kicker Brandon Aubrey successfully made two field goals, including a 60-yarder. Coach Mike McCarthy emphasized the importance of the win on the road and acknowledged that there is still room for improvement.
The Cowboys now have a 10-day break before their next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 6, which may help Parsons’ recovery, depending on the MRI results. Prescott celebrated his 13th consecutive win over the Giants, highlighting the significance of the victory in building momentum for the rest of the season.
