The Park Board Meeting held on September 10, 2024, addressed several important matters.

Commissioners awarded a bid to American Security & Gate Company for the Rheault Farm Park fencing replacement project. The 5-0 vote approved a bid of $61,450, which met all specifications, was the lowest received, and fell within the budget of $116,500. The project will see the replacement of the north and east fence lines with brown vinyl-coated chain-link fencing, scheduled to begin in mid-October and conclude by the end of the month, depending on potential changes to the timeline.

Additionally, the Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Fargo for the construction of the Red River Phase II Trail and Drain 27 Trail Crossing projects. This agreement permits the City to build segments of two shared-use paths as part of its pedestrian transportation plan in 2025. The local cost will be shared by both the City and the Fargo Park District, with the latter’s estimated contributions being $143,122 for the Red River Trail Phase II and $151,558 for the Drain 27 Trail Crossing, both covered in the 2025 concrete improvement budget.

The Board also received permission to apply for two grants: the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District Recreation Grant and the Outdoor Heritage Fund Grant. If awarded, the funds will upgrade dugouts at Fields #3 and #4 and add a picnic shelter at the Anderson Softball Complex. The Outdoor Heritage Fund will be pursued for enhancements at the Southwest Regional Pond Recreation Area.

Furthermore, a resolution adopting a City of Fargo ordinance regarding camping on public property was approved unanimously. This ordinance aims to establish consistent policies regarding camping across the Fargo Park District and the City of Fargo, allowing the Fargo Police Department to enforce regulations on park properties.

Lastly, during the public budget hearing that followed the Board meeting, no community members attended to provide input. The meeting was adjourned shortly after it began.
