Paris Shimmers: A Star-Studded Night at the Inaugural Bal d’Été

Paris, known as the City of Light, shimmered in star power on Sunday as it hosted a dazzling summer ball at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The inaugural Bal d’Été kicked off Couture Week and brought together some of Hollywood’s biggest names for a night of glamour and fashion.

Sofia Coppola, the evening’s host and appointed Artistic Director, welcomed a star-studded guest list, including her frequent collaborator, Kirsten Dunst. Dunst turned heads in a stunning sequin-encrusted gown, accompanied by her husband, actor Jesse Plemons.

Another highlight of the evening was Keira Knightley, who also serves as an ambassador for Chanel. She looked chic in a tweed blazer-style dress, alongside her husband, James Righton, the keyboardist of the British band Klaxons.

Coppola herself wore an enchanting pale pink gown featuring delicate pleated sleeves and a semi-sheer skirt adorned with ruffles. The ball also saw German actress Diane Kruger, who exuded elegance in an Alberta Ferretti dress, accentuated by a bright red lip and a statement clutch.

Penélope Cruz graced the event in a midnight blue Chanel ensemble, showcasing her style with a sheer shawl and a dotted skirt, embodying sophistication and allure.

Modeled similarly to New York’s Met Gala, the Bal d’Été is a fundraising event benefitting the upcoming exhibition “1925–2025: One Hundred Years of Art Deco,” which reflects Paris’s rich cultural tapestry and commitment to the arts.

The Bal d’Été was not just a feast for the eyes but also an affirmation of the fashion industry’s resilience and creativity, showcasing stunning designs and star-quality presence, all while supporting a noble cause.

This gathering underscores the enduring allure of Paris as a leading city in fashion and art, inspiring future generations to cherish and celebrate their cultural heritage.
