An alleged list of candidates applying for the upcoming elections from the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has emerged online, prompting the party to investigate the unauthorized disclosure. The leaked materials, which circulated widely on social media, reportedly detail over 60 applications, including names, submission times, methods, and dates, with submissions made through both hand delivery and email.

Noteworthy figures on the list include Foreign Affairs Minister Sakiasi Ditoka, acting Attorney General Siromi Turaga, and Minister Maciu Nalusima. Other prominent names are Manoa Kamikamica, PAP Secretary-General Sila Balawa, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Alitia Bainivalu, Esrom Immanuel, and Charan Jeath Singh. The document also lists Timoci Bure, Maritino Nemani, Puamau Sowane, Felix Magnus, and Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure.

In light of the leak, PAP Secretary-General Sila Balawa issued a statement highlighting that the application and selection process for candidates is officially confidential, as per the party’s constitution. He condemned the unauthorized release of this information as a serious breach of party discipline.

Balawa affirmed that the party is actively pursuing internal measures to trace the source of the leak and hold those involved accountable. This commitment to confidentiality and internal governance reflects the PAP’s efforts to preserve trust and cohesion as they approach the forthcoming election. This incident underscores the significant role that privacy plays in political processes, reminding all involved of the potential ramifications such breaches can have on the integrity of a party.
