Paolini Powers Through to Roland Garros Round of 16

Jasmine Paolini has advanced to the round of 16 in the women’s singles at the Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam event of the season, taking place on the red clay of Paris. The world number 4 and seeded player secured her spot by defeating Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, in just one hour and nine minutes. Paolini now awaits the winner of the match between Bernarda Pera and Elina Svitolina.

Reflecting on her performance, Paolini noted that she found her rhythm after a few games, admitting that she felt off at the start due to different conditions compared to her previous matches at the tournament. “I’m satisfied with the victory,” she stated.

Paolini has a special connection with Paris, having reached the singles final at Roland Garros last year and winning a gold medal in doubles at the Olympics alongside Sara Errani. “I feel good playing here. I always try to have fun: Paris is a special place for me. I thank the crowd for their support. Receiving so much encouragement is fantastic, and I feel lucky,” she added.

This noteworthy performance reinforces Paolini’s status as a formidable competitor on the international tennis stage, bringing hope for another deep run in one of her favorite tournaments.
