Jonathan M. Alexander has joined the Houston Chronicle as a staff writer focusing on the Houston Texans and the NFL. A native of Charlotte, Alexander graduated from N.C. Central University in 2013, an esteemed historically black college and university (HBCU) located in Durham, North Carolina. Throughout his career, he has reported on a wide range of topics including K-12 education, public safety, town governance, and college sports, showcasing his versatility in journalism.

Before his current role, Alexander spent two years with the Charlotte Observer, where he was dedicated to covering the Carolina Panthers. His reporting on the Panthers has earned him significant recognition, including twice receiving APSE National Top 10 honors for his writing and investigative journalism. His notable achievement includes breaking a major story in November 2021 when he disclosed that the Panthers were planning to re-sign quarterback Cam Newton, marking a significant moment in the team’s history.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Jonathan is passionate about coaching youth basketball and exploring new dining experiences with friends.
