Panthers Hopeful Boost for Jets Clash as Coker and Corbett Progress

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales has shared updates regarding potential returns ahead of their Week 7 encounter against the New York Jets. Wide receiver Jalen Coker and center Austin Corbett, currently on injured reserve, have been listed as questionable, but both players have shown promise in their recovery by participating fully in practice throughout the week.

Canales expressed optimism about Coker’s return, stating, “He’s ready to go. He had a great week, so we’re looking forward to him being up on Sunday.” Coker, who is recovering from a quad strain that sidelined him for the first six games of the season, had a noteworthy rookie year last season, making 32 receptions for 478 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

In contrast, Corbett’s situation is less certain. The seasoned offensive lineman suffered an MCL sprain during the Panthers’ second game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals and only returned to practice this past Wednesday. Nevertheless, Canales indicated he is prepared to utilize Corbett if he is ready for play, emphasizing his versatility and background as a guard, which could provide crucial depth on the offensive line.

Corbett’s potential return is significant, especially as starting left guard Damien Lewis was unable to practice on Thursday and Friday due to a shoulder issue. If needed, Corbett could either slot in at guard or offer support at center, backing Cade Mays, who has been starting in his absence.

As the Panthers gear up for their matchup against the Jets, the potential reinforcements of Coker and Corbett add a layer of excitement and hope for fans eager to see the team perform at its best.
