The San Diego Padres have announced the promotion of outfielder Brooks from their Triple-A affiliate, El Paso, to the major league roster. This decision comes after Brooks demonstrated impressive performance in the minors, achieving a batting average of .313 with a .415 on-base percentage and a .585 slugging percentage while hitting 13 home runs and driving in 53 runs over 265 plate appearances.
Brooks, who previously played for the San Francisco Giants in 2024, has been a consistent contributor for El Paso this season. After being outrighted off the Giants’ 40-man roster last July, he opted for free agency before securing a minor-league contract with the Padres.
Despite not being included in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Brooks is anticipated to provide valuable depth for the Padres, particularly in left field, first base, or designated hitter positions, especially with current injuries affecting Jackson Merrill (concussion) and Jason Heyward (oblique).
