Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love exited the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday due to a groin injury. Backup quarterback Malik Willis stepped in, leading the Packers to a 30-27 victory with a last-second field goal.
Love went down in the third quarter after being bumped by defensive end Travon Walker during a play that had already been whistled dead. He appeared to struggle to get up following the hit.
The Packers later categorized Love’s status as questionable to return because of the injury.
Willis finished the game with a passing performance of 4-for-5, including a touchdown throw. At the time of Love’s departure, the Jaguars were leading 17-13. Green Bay managed to rally back, taking a 27-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Jaguars tied the game with less than two minutes left when Trevor Lawrence connected with Evan Engram for a touchdown.
As the clock wound down, the Packers executed a strategic drive, culminating in a game-winning field goal by kicker Brandon McManus—the former Jaguar—just two seconds before the final whistle.
Love had previously been sidelined with an MCL sprain earlier in the season. He returned in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings after missing time. There were concerns about Love’s health earlier in the game when he seemed to injure his leg in the first quarter after an awkward landing, but he stayed in until the third quarter when the groin injury occurred.
The current status of Love’s injury remains uncertain, but if he is unable to play in the future, it appears Willis is ready to take over as the starting quarterback for Green Bay.
