Packers Fall Flat: What Went Wrong Against the Broncos?

DENVER — The Green Bay Packers suffered a heavy defeat against the Denver Broncos, losing 27-2 while resting 31 players, including all of their regular starters.

In a game where Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love was sidelined, Sean Clifford took the helm but was intercepted by Keidron Smith, who returned the pick 56 yards. Just before halftime, Jared Stidham extended the Broncos’ lead with a 9-yard touchdown scramble, making the score 17-0.

Green Bay managed to score their only points late in the third quarter when Zach Morton tackled Wilson for a safety after a lengthy offensive struggle. The ensuing kickoff under new safety rules featured Broncos kicker Brandon Lutz sending the ball from his 20-yard line to the Packers’ 2-yard line, where Dimitri Stanley returned it to the 29.

Following the safety, Wilson connected with Tyler Badie for a 7-yard touchdown, sealing the game at 27-2.

Defensively, rookie linebacker Jonah Ellis shone for the Broncos. A third-round selection from Utah, he recorded another interception and a vital strip-sack that led to a field goal.

Despite the victory, Denver struggled with penalties, racking up 13 for 120 yards compared to just four penalties for the Packers for 40 yards.

Injuries affected both teams; Packers linebacker Ralen Goforth suffered a concussion, while Broncos linebacker Jonas Griffith injured his shoulder but managed to return. Additionally, rookie wide receiver DeVaughn Vele did not play due to a leg injury.
