GREEN BAY – In a pivotal move for the Green Bay Packers, President Ed Policy has announced multi-year contract extensions for key figures within the organization, including head coach Matt LaFleur, general manager Brian Gutekunst, and executive vice president and director of football operations Russ Ball.

Despite a disappointing season that saw the Packers finish with five consecutive losses, culminating in a wild-card playoff defeat to their rivals, the Chicago Bears, Policy remains steadfast in his belief that this group is capable of leading the team to a Super Bowl victory. “Their steadfast dedication, passion and collaboration have remained constant in our drive to compete at the highest level,” Policy stated. He emphasized that, although the end of the season was not what they hoped for, the team’s leadership has been working together to forge a promising path forward. “I am exceedingly confident we have the right people to achieve our goal. The entire Packers organization looks forward to supporting every effort to bring our community and fans another championship that they very much deserve.”

Matt LaFleur is set to enter his eighth season as head coach of the Packers. His 76 regular-season victories are among the highest in NFL history for a coach in their first seven seasons, a mark shared with coaching legend Paul Brown. Under LaFleur’s guidance, the Packers have secured playoff berths in six of the past seven years and reached the NFC Championship game twice.

During LaFleur’s tenure since 2019, the Packers’ offense has consistently ranked among the NFL’s elite. He played a significant role in the success of Aaron Rodgers, who won two MVP awards under LaFleur, and has been instrumental in the development of Jordan Love and backup Malik Willis.

General manager Brian Gutekunst, who has been with the Packers for 27 seasons and has held the GM position since 2018, has made a significant impact through his drafting and free agency strategies. Notable draft picks include Jordan Love, Edgerrin Cooper, Evan Williams, and Christian Watson, among others. His free agency efforts have also been noteworthy, highlighted by the acquisitions of Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney in 2024, and a trade for Micah Parsons in 2025.

Russ Ball has been with the Packers for nearly two decades and has a total of 38 years of experience in the football industry. He was initially brought on as president of football administration and player finance in 2008 and ascended to his current role in 2018.

The extensions signal a commitment to continuity and a belief in the current leadership as they look to build a championship-caliber team in the upcoming seasons.
