Legal experts from across the Pacific are convening in Nadi this week for the highly anticipated Fiji Law Society Convention 2025, in partnership with the Pasefika Lawyers Collective (PLC). Set against the backdrop of the Crowne Plaza, the three-day event begins on Thursday, 17th October, and is built around the theme “Embracing Change: The Future of Law in the Pacific.”
The Speaker of the Parliament of Fiji, Filimone Jitoko, is expected to officiate the opening, highlighting the significance of discussions focused on digital disruption, governance, access to justice, and the evolving roles of legal institutions in the Pacific region. This gathering is not only a platform for local insight but will also feature contributions from esteemed speakers across various nations, including Uganda, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands, and Kiribati.
As noted by the Fiji Law Society, the primary objective of this convention is to enhance professional collaboration while devising strategies to tackle the future legal and social challenges faced by Pacific nations. Such initiatives are essential as they offer a space for sharing knowledge, experiences, and promoting innovations in legal practices.
Moreover, the convention is recognized for offering Continuing Legal Education (CLE) points, signifying its importance in advancing professional development within the legal community.
