Rokovada pointed out that financial accountability was a major theme during the previous year’s regional civil service leaders meeting. While he acknowledged the progress made, he noted that this remains a shared challenge across the Pacific region. “We must ensure that the money is well spent and properly accounted for,” he stated, reinforcing the tenets of accountability, transparency, and good governance as essential components of leadership in government. He reminded all public servants that financial resources are finite, emphasizing the importance of responsible financial management.
