Solomon Islands international and Rewa FC striker John Orobulu is poised to make a notable transition to Papua New Guinea’s Hekari United FC as he prepares for the upcoming 2026 OFC Professional League season. Orobulu has recently demonstrated exceptional talent, clinching the golden boot award during both the IDC in Ba and the Battle of the Giants in Labasa, while leading Rewa’s Extra Premier League with an impressive tally of 11 goals in just 13 matches.
Rewa FC President Nazil Buksh confirmed the news of Orobulu’s transfer to FBC Sports, revealing the 25-year-old will join Hekari United following his participation in the Pacific Cup, which concludes on November 30. After the Pacific Cup, Orobulu is expected to accompany Rewa’s squad to New Zealand before officially starting with Hekari in early December, with a provision to return to Rewa during the June transfer window.
Because of the OFC Pro League’s timing, running from January to May, Orobulu will unfortunately miss the Champion-versus-Champion clash as well as part of Rewa’s 2026 Extra Premier League season. Hekari United’s head coach, Marcos Alves Gusmão, expressed strong confidence in Orobulu’s potential to make meaningful contributions to the team’s performance and growth.
In addition to Orobulu’s impending move, Hekari United is also in talks with a Fijian player regarding a potential transfer, further underscoring the club’s dedication to enhance its roster. Each team in the OFC Pro League is mandated to register 17 local players, along with an allowance for three players from other OFC nations and three from outside the region, which helps maintain competitive parity throughout the league.
As pre-season preparations commence in December, fans are excitedly anticipating the OFC Professional League’s kickoff on January 26, 2026. Orobulu’s transfer marks a significant milestone in his career and symbolizes the increasing competitiveness within regional football, igniting hope for more thrilling performances in the tournaments ahead.
