Oprah Takes the Stage: What’s Her Surprise for DNC?

Oprah Winfrey, a prominent and influential figure, will participate in the Democratic National Convention program on Wednesday night to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

Sources indicate that Winfrey’s appearance will coincide with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s acceptance of the Democratic vice presidential nomination. Observers noted that Winfrey was seen at the United Center, expressing her excitement about being there.

Her close friend Gayle King provided a preview of Winfrey’s remarks on CBS, mentioning that Winfrey was making last-minute adjustments and had initially intended to avoid political involvement. King stated, “She has some things to say tonight,” revealing some reserved practices during rehearsals, where Winfrey wore a cap, sunglasses, and a face mask to keep her participation under wraps.

The Democratic National Convention is gaining significant traction in Chicago, with performances from various artists including Lil Jon, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Maren Morris, and Pink expected as the week progresses.

In 2020, Winfrey backed President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris, acknowledging the historic significance of Harris as the first woman and woman of color in the vice presidency. She shared her thoughts at that time, expressing a wish that the late Maya Angelou could witness this moment in history.

Winfrey has a history of political endorsements, notably backing Barack Obama in 2008 and Hillary Clinton in 2016, although she has generally kept a lower profile in political campaigns since then.
