Fiji’s Yasawa Islands are poised to become a significant hub for luxury tourism with the upcoming development of a One&Only Resort, led by the Kerzner Group and BSP Life. This new luxury hotel project will unfold on Nacula Island’s shores, specifically in Malakati Village. This venture highlights Fiji’s growing appeal to high-value travelers and significant investments in its tourism sector.
iTaukei Land Trust Board CEO, Solomone Nata, disclosed that the development will provide long-term benefits for local landowners and the broader community, enhancing local economic opportunities. The resort, slated to open in 2029, will occupy a 127-acre site, offering 40 guestrooms, suites, and villas, along with 20 private residences, six dining venues, and a Club One wellness center. This project aligns with a broader trend in Fiji of expanding luxury tourism offerings, similar to the planned Ritz-Carlton Fiji at Namuka Bay and other upscale developments.
Continuing the theme of collaboration, the Fijian Government and local landowners have expressed support for the project, demonstrating a unified effort to enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure. The introduction of One&Only further solidifies Fiji’s status as a premium travel destination, complementing other significant projects like the $4 billion Vulani Project in Nadi and the billion-dollar tourism initiative at Nadi’s sunset strip. These initiatives showcase Fiji as an attractive site for notable international investments.
The strategic location of the One&Only Yasawa, alongside similar developments, exemplifies Fiji’s readiness to accommodate upscale travelers interested in both luxury and authentic cultural experiences. The growth of luxury hospitality brands in Fiji underscores a positive trajectory for the country’s economic development, job creation, and the improvement of tourism infrastructure. With these investments, Fiji continues to position itself as a renowned destination for luxury travel, blending modern amenities with traditional Fijian hospitality.
