Olivia Rodrigo has assured fans that she is “OK” following a fall on stage during her concert in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday. The incident occurred at the Rod Laver Arena when the singer unexpectedly fell through a trap door while performing. Videos of the moment quickly spread online, showing Olivia momentarily disappearing from view before reappearing. She later shared her own footage of the incident on TikTok, humorously stating, “I am ok hahaha.”
In the footage, gasps and screams can be heard from the audience as she falls, grasping the side of the stage. Shortly after, the “Good 4 U” singer laughs off the mishap, exclaiming, “Oh my God, that was fun. I’m OK. Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage – that’s alright. OK, where was I?” She then resumed her performance, tagging the video with #subtleforeshadowing to playfully reference the editing style that repeats moments of failure.
Currently on her Guts world tour, which launched in the US in February, Olivia has gained critical acclaim for her second studio album, also titled Guts, featuring popular tracks like “Vampire,” “Get Him Back,” and “Bad Idea Right?” While in Australia, she also met Pesto, a viral penguin from Melbourne’s Sea Life Aquarium, known for being the largest newborn at the facility.
Olivia recently performed in Manila to what became the largest crowd of her career, with over 50,000 attendees. This marked her first performance in the Philippines, a country connected to her Filipino heritage, and she donated the concert’s profits to a charity focused on healthcare for women and girls in the region. She expressed that the show was one of her most meaningful experiences.
Next, Olivia is set to perform four shows in Sydney before taking a break from the tour, which will continue in South America in March 2024. Additionally, she plans to return to Manchester in June 2025 for a concert at the Co-op Live Arena after postponements were made due to venue issues.
