Olivia Rodrigo experienced a dramatic moment during her recent concert in Melbourne, Australia, when she accidentally fell through a trap door on stage. The incident occurred while the Grammy-winning artist was engaging with her fans during her performance. Video footage circulating on social media shows Rodrigo enthusiastically moving across the stage before suddenly dropping through the opening.
Upon falling, fans reacted with concern, but Rodrigo quickly reassured them by stating, “Oh, my God. That was fun,” and continued with “I’m OK. Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s all right. OK, where was I?” Despite the mishap, she managed to carry on with her show.
Rodrigo’s first series of performances in Australia have been noteworthy, with the Rod Laver Arena describing the experience as “a magical week in Melbourne” on Instagram. Following her Melbourne shows, she is set to perform in Sydney at the Qudos Bank Arena.
After the fall, it was reported that Rodrigo left Melbourne with a bandaged thumb. Her management has not yet responded to requests for comments about the incident.
The “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” star is currently on her Guts world tour, which began weeks ago in the Philippines. Rodrigo expressed pride in her Filipino heritage, stating that bringing her music to the Philippines was a significant experience for her. Her recent performance there also served as a fundraiser for the women’s health charity Jhpiego, in collaboration with her Fund 4 Good. She described the show as the “most special” and “meaningful” trip, expressing her gratitude on social media.
In a heartfelt message to her fans, she said, “Mahal kita,” which translates to “I love you” in Tagalog, pinning the phrase to her commitment to her roots and her audience.
