During a recent concert in Australia, Olivia Rodrigo encountered an unexpected mishap reminiscent of a previous performance in Palm Desert. The Grammy-winning artist, who is currently on her Guts world tour, sparked concern among fans after falling through a trap door while performing at her final show in Melbourne.
Video footage from the Monday night concert captured the moment when Rodrigo, in an effort to engage the crowd, ran across the stage only to disappear through the opening. Witnesses reported gasps from the audience. Alternative angles of the incident show Rodrigo hanging on to the edge of the stage before she quickly bounced back up, reassuring her fans with a smile. “Oh, my God. That was fun,” she exclaimed. “I’m OK. Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s all right. OK, where was I?”
Despite the fall, her concerts in Australia have been well-received. The Rod Laver Arena shared on Instagram that it was a “magical week in Melbourne” leading up to the concert. Following her Melbourne performance, Rodrigo is set to continue her tour in Sydney at the Qudos Bank Arena.
After her fall, Rodrigo was seen with a bandaged thumb, as reported by 7News Australia. A representative for the singer has not yet commented on the incident.
Rodrigo, known for her role in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” has expressed pride in her Filipino heritage during her tour, especially highlighting a recent stop in the Philippines. She shared that her October 5 show at the Philippine Arena was particularly meaningful, serving not only as a long-awaited return but also as a fundraiser for the women’s health charity Jhpiego, in collaboration with her Fund 4 Good. On social media, she reflected on the importance of the experience, emphasizing her gratitude with the phrase “Mahal kita,” which translates to “I love you.”
