OXFORD — The University of Mississippi football program will pay The Citadel $500,000 for their upcoming matchup during Week 11, as reported by the Clarion Ledger. This game is scheduled for November 8 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, where the No. 7 ranked Rebels (8-1) will take on The Citadel Bulldogs (4-5) at noon CT, broadcasting on SEC Network+.
The Citadel, a military college located in Charleston, South Carolina, holds a record of 3-3 in the Southern Conference this season. This will mark the second meeting between the two teams; the last encounter in 2005 saw Ole Miss secure a victory with a score of 27-7.
Looking ahead, Ole Miss is projected to spend $2.75 million on four non-conference games in 2025. The most significant expenditure is earmarked for a Week 1 game against Georgia State, which costs $1.6 million. In addition, Ole Miss paid Tulane $250,000 for a Week 4 matchup, where they emerged victorious with a dominant score of 45-10.
This strategic scheduling not only showcases Ole Miss’s commitment to tough competition outside of conference play but also highlights their efforts to enhance their overall football program. The investment in various matchups reflects a growing ambition for the Rebels as they navigate through their football season.
