Oksana Baiul, the celebrated Olympic figure skating champion who won a gold medal for Ukraine in 1994, is selling her Shreveport mansion for $1.2 million as she prepares to relocate back to Las Vegas amid divorce proceedings from her husband, Carlo Farina. Baiul announced her decision through social media, expressing her struggles to make a living in Shreveport and the need to return to a place where she feels she can thrive.
Baiul and her 10-year-old daughter are set to return to Las Vegas, where she intends to work within the organization of the Vegas Golden Knights. In her heartfelt message on Facebook, she thanked the community in Shreveport, stating, “Thank you, Shreveport !!! House is for sale, moving back to Las Vegas … I love u all. I am sorry it didn’t work out.”
The decision to move comes after a series of personal challenges, including the commencement of divorce proceedings in the summer of 2025. Baiul purchased the Shreveport home in 2022 for $600,000, intending to open a skating school that ultimately did not materialize.
Baiul described her home, a stunning 1925 Georgian Italianate mansion designed by architect Edward F. Neild, as “the most beautiful mansion in all of Shreveport.” The property features extensive restorations over the past three years, boasting five bedrooms, five bathrooms, seven fireplaces, and a grand entrance all situated on a generous 1.3-acre lot. She listed the mansion on September 20 for $1,195,000.
Reflecting on her journey, Baiul noted the ups and downs of her life, mentioning her achievements in skating along with the hardships, saying, “I’ve made all of the money in the world, lost all of the money in the world. I’ve been married, now I’m divorced. But, if you fall down on the ice, can you imagine how many times I had to fall down and get up?”
Despite the challenges she faces, Baiul’s move back to Las Vegas signifies a new chapter in her life, full of potential and opportunities, especially in a city known for its vibrant entertainment scene.
